Greeks love their sayings.
No seriously. They love them. They have the usual ones like goodnight, good morning, etc. But there are also a string of others they use for all kinds of reasons on a regular basis.
One example is Καλό Μήνα. Literally translated it means good month. It’s a blessing used at the beginning of each month and can be said either as a greeting or at the end of a conversation as a goodbye. When I first moved the Greece, it was strange to have people wishing me a good month every time the first rolled around. Now, however, I love it. It’s a reminder that every month is a fresh start and a new chance to continue tackling my goals.
Since it’s March 1st today, I thought I would send out this greeting to all of you.
Καλό Μήνα! I hope you all have a fantastic month!
